In the heart of the UK, our enclave of martial heritage is guided by three illustrious trainers, each a beacon of knowledge and skill in the medieval martial arts. Their diverse backgrounds and shared passion for history bring to life the spirit of the warrior, teaching not just techniques but the essence of chivalric combat.

Sir William of Arden

As a vanguard of valor, Sir William not only brings his expertise with the longsword and shield to the fore but is also a master in the arts of the two-handed sword and the tactical use of the knife in close combat. In 2019, Sir William showcased his martial prowess in the Battle of the Nations held in  Smederevo, Serbia, standing as a testament to his skill and valor on an international stage. His accolades include not only tournament victories but also recognition for his skillful integration of these weapons in demonstrations of medieval combat tactics.

Specialty: Longsword, Shield, Two-Handed Sword, Knife.

Achievements: Champion in numerous European tournaments; known for his comprehensive mastery of both offensive and defensive techniques.

Lady Eleanor of Mercia

With her unparalleled skill in archery, Lady Eleanor specializes in the English longbow, teaching not just the technique but the history and significance of this weapon in medieval warfare. Additionally, her proficiency extends to the sling, showcasing its utility and effectiveness in her skilled hands, and she has earned distinctions in archery competitions for her precision and teaching. Lady Eleanor demonstrated the formidable precision of the English longbow at the Battle of the Nations in  Rome, Italy, 2018, earning acclaim for her expertise and dedication to historical archery.

Specialty: English Longbow, Sling.

Achievements: National archery competition winner; celebrated for her revival of historical archery techniques and empowerment of women in martial sports.

Thomas the Artisan

Thomas, our esteemed weapons and armour historian, is proficient with the one-handed axe and the two-handed axe, providing comprehensive training that includes the historical context of each weapon. His sessions on the baton (club) delve into its use across various cultures, illustrating its versatility as a weapon. His expertise has not only educated but also equipped enthusiasts with the knowledge to appreciate the historical significance of these arms.

Specialty: One-Handed Axe, Two-Handed Axe, Baton (Club).

Achievements: Renowned for his historical insights and practical demonstrations at medieval weaponry exhibitions; a key contributor to educational workshops on armoured combat.
